Combat Winter Dry Skin With What?

It's itchy, tight, and uncomfortable. It can be a pain! I'm talking about dreadful, dry skin. I've spent hundreds of dollars in past years for products that claim to cure dry skin. Although there is no cure for dry skin there are products available that provide relief for dry and/or dehydrated skin in addition to drinking plenty of water of course. Personally, I have no complaints about most of the products I've tried, but eventually I discovered 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Oh the joy!

Olive oil is recognized as one of the most health promoting type of oils available. I've found that it's good for my skin, hair, and body. I sprinkle a few drops in my bath water and after my bath I spread a thin layer on my damp skin. It leaves my skin soft, supple, and ready to battle cold winter days. I can't rave enough about how is makes my skin feel. It also looks amazing because it gives my brown skin a subtle, sexy glow. Olive oil is one of my "must-have" products and it costs right around $6.00 at Walmart or your local health food store.

In addition to moisturizing my skin, here is how I use extra virgin olive oil:
  1. I use it as an oil for my hair to seal in moisture.
  2. I moisturize my nails and cuticles with it to experience better growth.
  3. I cook with olive oil everyday and I truly believe it keeps me healthy.
  4. I use it to battle inflammation and speed healing by dabbing a little on cuts, bruises, and sores.
  5. I use it during my weekly facial by spreading a thin layer on my skin after it has been cleansed and then sit under steam for about 10 to 15 minutes. It penetrates deep and leaves my skin soft, supple and hydrated.
As much as I'd love to be a spokesperson for EVOO, this is based on my experience only. If you want to learn more about the claimed health benefits of olive oil, here is a link from Whole Foods.

Lata' people and bye bye dry skin!
