The Best Way to Wash Your Face

It could be said that there is a right way and wrong way to wash your face but I'll go with the way that will help you obtain the best results. Before there were facial cleansers for dry skin, oily skin and combination skin, there was old fashioned soap and water. While it is true that cleansing is the most important step in good facial care, there are other things to consider.

What Does a Sulfate-Free Shampoo Mean to You as a Consumer?

Ahh....bubbles. Nothing says clean like a thick, fluffy lather of bubbles and foam. More foam; more clean. It sounds good but that can't be further from the truth when it comes to hair. Shampoo manufacturers have begun to remove the sulfate and are opting to use alternative ingredients to get the job done. So what does that mean to you? Are you ready to venture off into the world of sulfate-free shampoos?

Shampooing for Long Tresses Update

As the months have passed I've continued to use Aussie Moist shampoo. No complaints here but my goal is to use a sulfate-free shampoo that hydrates and moisturizes without all of the extra harsh chemicals and preservatives. I want to love my natural hair to life, not death! I mentioned in my blog entry titled "Shampooing for Long Tresses" that I'd update you on what I found in regard to finding a sulfate-free shampoo. After careful thought, I've decided to experiment with making my own. Sounds exciting right!

I researched a few recipes online, learned about the necessary and optional ingredients that would be combined to make an organic shampoo for my hair type, and I have an idea of where to purchase my ingredients. Stay tuned for a VLOG titled "Making Your Own Organic Shampoo is Easy!" at YouTube.com/JustNaumi.

Until then,

See you all lata'!

The 2011 Fall World Natural Hair, Health and Beauty show will be held in Atlanta on September 10-11, 2011 at the Georgia International Convention Center in College Park, GA

My One-Year Natural Hair Transition Celebration is Coming!

I can't believe I'm about to celebrate my one-year natural hair transition anniversary! On September 1st, 2011 it will be one-year since I began my transition. I remember my very first day...I applied the last texurizer to my hair on the day prior and thought with regret, "Why did I do that?" Thoughts of going natural tickled my brain day and night for almost a year while hovered over my laptop watching countless YouTube videos of natural hair gurus but this thought was different. I couldn't answer the question of why. At that point, it made sense to me to begin my welcomed journey.

I'm proud of myself. I'm half-way to my two-year transition goal and I'm feeling good about it. I have no regrets and wouldn't change my experience one bit; even the challenges. It's beautiful.

Be sure to visit my YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/justnaumi on September 1st for my one-year length check.

XoXo,

Coconut Oil - For My Hair?

Hold-on! Don't pull out the frying pan just yet. Let's talk hair.

We may have something in common if you want to run your fingers through a head of thick and healthy hair. Oh, and that head of hair should happen to be yours. One common goal of naturals is to accomplish and maintain healthy hair. Sounds simple but to do that, we have to be knowledgeable about products that nourish our hair, skin, and body, and many of us turn to natural products. Olive oil, shea butter, and genuine African black soap are a few jaw dropping, natural products on my list but there's one more product that deserves some blog play.
