Is He Really Transitioning With Me?

Untitled #70

On September 1st, 2010 I applied my last texturizer to my hair and declared the beginning of my journey to natural hair. How excited I was imagining my natural kinks and curls dancing on my head and changing my life's song. I imagined big hair and the thought made me smile often. The feeling was uplifting.

Looking back, it was an easy start. I wore my hair in twists for the first few months and the compliments could fill my designer suitcase until I could no longer zip it shut. I found a few staple hair products almost from the very beginning. [I give thanks to YouTube's natural hair contributors for that.] With a passion for embracing my authentic self, a love for natural hair, a body filled over the brim with confidence, and a few staple hair products, I was walking proudly through a life changing moment.

Lace; a fabric that was once a highly coveted luxury that dates back to 1500 A.D. is now a staple wardrobe piece for the fashion forward. I have an unhealthy love for lace but more importantly an appreciation for it. On runways from New York to Paris designer labels such as Chanel, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana use lace in their haute couture designs. What do these designer brands have in common? All are made in Italy where the history of lace begins.

With beginnings in countries across the continent of Europe there are many different types of lace based on technique, pattern, color and weight. The French town of Chantilly; where silk lace was made, gave birth to Chantilly Lace; the most magnificent black lace. Guipure; a silk and cotton mix lace, Paris and Mechlin; a tule lace, Brussels; well known for its delicacy and beauty as a fine lace with a raised or applique design, Valenciennes; a rich handmade lace with floral patterns, and Blonde lace; made of silk and floral patterns, are just a few versions of this strikingly beautiful fabric.

In the production of lace; a fine web of silk woven to perfection, the labor of professional needle workers was intense and the intricate details of its design remarkable. Other forms of lace work included bobbin, crochet, tatting and knitting. Formerly made by hand and now made by machine, lace is as versatile today as it ever was.

Vintage clothing is in high demand as more and more celebrities, socialites, and extraordinary fashionistas swarm the runways and consignment shops to find one of a kind vintage garments, shoes, handbags, and jewelry. Although second hand garments, vintage items originating from a previous era have translated history to current day in demand fashion. Rachel Zoe, a celebrity stylist turned fashion designer embraces the style from this era with a passion that is undeniable. She's "all things vintage". So what's the difference between authentic vintage and vintage inspired?

The Beauty Accessory That Can Transform Your Look from Plain to Glam

Lash Hangover

There is no doubt that accessories and fashion walk side by side. They transform the simplest ensemble into something worthy of walking the runway. Just as jewelry, clutches, and belts can transform your fashion basics, falsies can transform your beauty look from plain to glam in just minutes.

Fashion icon Twiggy, sexy Marilyn Monroe, and the timeless beauty Diana Ross best captured "the art of the lash". These ladies made it look effortless. The photographs and movie pictures captured and propelled through history the whimsical glamour that false eyelashes has injected into our beauty culture. They are a staple accessory that will continue to carry history into the future and every girl should have at least one pair in her lifetime.

Skin Care Series: How Important Is Good Skin Care?

You Don't Need a Miracle to Achieve Great Skin

Philosophy Miracle Worker Full Size Kit

It doesn't take a Miracle to achieve great skin. However, Philosophy's Miracle Worker Collection may help if you're battling the signs of aging. But more importantly, a good skin care routine optimizes your skin's health without the wave of a magical wand.

Why is skin care so important? Skin, the largest organ of the human body, protects your body and is responsible for controlling your body temperature, protecting delicate underlying tissue, acting as an effective barrier to infection, and healing when damaged. The skin is a complicated structure that contains specialized cells with many functions. If any of those functions are out of sync, an abnormality visible on the skin's surface may occur.

Living in a hostile environment containing smog, cigarette smoke, pollution, bacteria, over exposure to the sun, and a host of other factors make it easy to understand why healthy skin is vital to your overall health.
