Bite-Size Steps

Dream Big

Dream Big

Good Morning Dear Readers!

I read an article this morning about real women who successfully made major life changes at ages when they were supposed to already to have everything together. One of the women was a naval officer turned novelist and she mentioned how her military training taught her to dream big but to also break down those big dreamy goals into bite-size steps. Instead of trying to 'write a novel' she decided to focus on just writing a few pages per day. Those few pages per day eventually turned into her first novel. As I read her story, I continued to play back "bite-size steps" in my mind.

As someone who is trying to accomplish so many big goals, I am encouraged to apply the concept of bite-size steps. Here are a few of my goals:

Change Happens

I woke up bright and early this morning with hair on my mind. One year has passed since I began my transition to natural hair and I've been making some changes to my regimen, hair tools, and the products I use. I am also making some changes within my career and I am considering a new look. No, I'm not going to cut or straighten my hair. Absolutely not. But what I need is a new signature style.

I need a new hairstyle that will capture my sense of creativity, look great on camera, compliment my career, and embrace the essence of my personal style. I am almost certain it will be an up-do but I'm keeping my options open.

Over the next couple of weeks I'll be surfing the net, turning the pages of magazines, and pressing play on many YouTube videos to gain some inspiration.

Wish me success!

Winter is Coming!

Winter Scarves

Warm and Fashionable with Winter Scarves

Winter is coming and I absolutely can't wait to pull out my scarves. Scarves serve as a warm up in the bitter cold but they're also a fashion statement. From solids and floral patterns to cottons and silks, there are a plethora of options. Here are a few ways to wear them:

Around the neck: This is the most obvious way to wear a scarf but what you may not know is there are several ways to tie a scarf around your neck to create a different look. Get creative!

Around the waist: Instead of a belt, you can dress up an outfit with a scarf around the waist. If it's a thin scarf, you can loop it through your jeans and let it hang on the sides. A bigger scarf can be loosely tied around your waist over a dress or skirt to add color and volume.

On your head: As a natural head, wearing a decorative scarf to cover my hair is a great way to protect my tresses during the winter.

Amazingly there are 30 or more ways to tie a scarf and with so many options, you're sure to find the look that works best for you and keeps the chill at bay when you're stepping out. Here's a great link to learn more than 30 ways to tie a scarf: http://www.scarves.net/how-to-tie-a-scarf.

How Important Is All Natural?

I’m a fairly natural girl or at least I’d like to think so (smile). For me, going all natural is a process of educating myself of the health benefits or hazards of various ingredients as well as finding alternatives to foods and products that I want to eliminate.

My Results with African Black Soap: 6 Months Later

I'm sitting on the sofa doing something that's bad; bad; bad. Please smack my hand. I'm rubbing my face and I can't keep my hands off it! It's so smooth and soft. It's amazing that I can turn skin that I thought was already amazing into something even more amazing. OK, amazing is the new word of the day.

I've been using African Black Soap for six months now. I started using this soap back in February 2011 and my goals were to lighten the hyperpigmentation around my jawline, smooth the texture of my skin, even out the skin tone on the sides of my face and control blemishes that caused hyperpigmentation. Check, check, check, and check.
