Good Morning Dear Readers!
I read an article this morning about real women who successfully made major life changes at ages when they were supposed to already to have everything together. One of the women was a naval officer turned novelist and she mentioned how her military training taught her to dream big but to also break down those big dreamy goals into bite-size steps. Instead of trying to 'write a novel' she decided to focus on just writing a few pages per day. Those few pages per day eventually turned into her first novel. As I read her story, I continued to play back "bite-size steps" in my mind.
As someone who is trying to accomplish so many big goals, I am encouraged to apply the concept of bite-size steps. Here are a few of my goals:
Dream: To have healthy glowing "nearly flawless "skin (can't be perfect) and a healthy head of 100% natural hair.
Goal: Use all natural and/or organic products for my skin and hair.
Bite-Size Steps: Focus on one product change at a time. Learn about the ingredients of my products and benefits of using a natural alternative to my skin care and hair care products.
Dream: To have a full head of long 100% natural hair.
Goal: Begin my natural hair growth challenge with 12 inches of natural hair.
Bite-Size Steps: Learn about natural hair care daily to encourage growth and retain length, and month-by-month gradually clip my straight ends as my natural hair grows. Make my final cut on September 12, 2012.
Dream: I aspire to be a successful creative writer/entrepreneur
Goal: Be a spokesperson for a major beauty product (maybe my own) based on my contributions to the industry as a writer and blogger.
Bite-Size Steps: Join a group whose goals are similar to mine, write on my preferred subject matter daily and contribute to the online community to gain some recognition, continue to educate myself through online resources, books, and educational institutions, and contribute articles through any online resource that needs beauty content to gain experience and credibility as a writer.
These were just a few of my dreams and I'll continue to tweak my bite-size steps as I move closer to my goals. Everyone has the potential to achieve something great and I'm no exception. But one thing I've learned is that you can't accomplish your goals while you're asleep. So turn those dreams into real goals. I don't do London, I am London!
Greatest success!
